ABC Announces New Reality Dating Show To Be Hosted By Former 'Bachelor' Star Jesse Palmer

ABC has announced a new reality dating series from Bachelor creator Mike Fleiss. The 10-episode series is called The Proposal, which will feature eligible men and women competing in four "pageant-style" rounds to win the heart of a mystery suitor or "suitress," whose identity is concealed until the end of each hour.

Former NFL quarterback Jesse Palmer will serve as host, marking his return to reality TV. In 2004, he was the lead on The Bachelor season five, where he fell in love with Jessica Bowlin. The pair eventually called it quits.  Since then, Palmer has worked as a color commentator on Fox and ESPN as well as Good Morning America.

According to the network, the participants will be trimmed down by the end of the one-hour episode, "leading to the dramatic and highly anticipated reveal, when the two remaining daters finally meet the mystery suitor for the first time and present a romantic proposal of their choice."

"No one other than Mike Fleiss could come up with a dating show in the form of a pageant. Viewers are going to love this show - it's all part of the same DNA as The Bachelor franchise. Very excited for this summer," Rob Mills, SVP, Alternative Series, Specials and Late Night at ABC told Us Weekly.

The Proposal is set to air in the summer. Meanwhile, The Bachelorette season 14 premieres May 28 at 8/7c on ABC.
